SKS Shanghai, new construction of a stainless steel production line – 1st construction stage

Shanghai Krupp Stainless (SKS), a joint venture set up in 1997 between ThyssenKrupp Stainless and Shanghai Pudong Iron and Steel, erected an integrated stainless steel production mill for the production of non-corroding flat products in Shanghai, People’s Republic of China between 1998 and 2002.

The concept with an annual capacity of around 390,000 metric tonnes foresaw the completion of the project by the end of 2006. The overall project was divided up into three stages and involved a capital investment of approx. 300 Mio. US $.

The initial extension stage of the cold rolling mill was commissioned and commenced production at the end of 2001.

VIB also supported the technology provider ThyssenKrupp Stainless among other things in the project structuring, progress and interface controlling, the drawing-up of budgets as well as in the tendering stages with the drawing-up of application documentation and the evaluation of the tenders received.

On site in Shanghai at SKS, in addition to the progress controlling, VIB also took on the planning and installation of the SAP system including the data interface for the control of the plant and equipment.
